Masquerades of Research Part I (2020) is a moral biography of Humphreys, exploring the wider social impetus behind his pioneering and ethically controversial field research of gay male cruising in St. Louis in 1967. Part I (2020) explores the impetus behind Humphreys’ contentious research methods,
Part II (2022) begins in Los Angeles in 1975, when Tearoom Trade is republished in a significantly shifted social context in a post-Stonewall and post-Watergate United States.
